BMW fans will be excited to see the new BMW M5 which will be on show at the IAA Motor show in Frankfurt this week. Set to inspire with its aerodynamic design, BMW TwinPower Turbo technology and exceptional driving dynamics which includes M xDrive and Drivelogic systems, the sixth generation of this high-performance Saloon certainly lives up to all the hype.
Powered by their new 4.4-litre V8 engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology the engine delivers a jaw dropping output of 441kW (600hp) and a torque of up to 750Nm which enables the BMW M5 to accelerate from 0-62mph in just 3.4 seconds. The M xDrive converts power to the wheels via the specifically designed drivetrain that creates world class all-wheel drive.
Technology and Performance
The new BMW M5 is awash with convenient technological features. Handling is augmented with the introduction of M xDrive with Active M Differential; through controlling the torque distribution between the front and rear axle via a regulated clutch. M xDrive with Active M Differential makes sure the correct amount of grip at all times is applied. Contributing to the car’s lower fuel consumption; which allows quicker gear change, is the eight-speed M Steptronic gearbox. The BMW Drivelogic and the electromechanical Servotronic steering wheel allow for precision handling through tight corners.
The silhouette of the car has been given a redesign to ensure better aerodynamics. This starts at the front with a bumper redesign to allow for bigger, more sporty air intakes, and the roof is made from light and strong carbon fibre reinforced. Finally, the rear spoiler is now smoother and more integrated in to the body to give the BMW M5 the classic athletic look that is so iconic.
